For my holiday mini album, I decided to focus on puns. The reason behind it all was to make it easier for me to document by adding a humorous twist. It has been tough for me to get back into memory keeping. If you’ve been following me then you know why. If not, the quick story is that I started memory keeping about two years ago when my grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Watching her memory fade made me realize how essential it is to document our stories. Since her passing in February of 2018 and even a couple months before that I stopped documenting since it was so hard. I am finally back into memory keeping and enjoying it. However, for the first Christmas without my grandma I knew I had to put some fun into my album in order to keep up with it. Plus, puns are just fun!
I have created a series of pun layouts using the Simple Dori and process videos to accompany them.
“It is LIT in here”: To document our very first Christmas tree I took a photo from the stairs to get this beautiful shot. I really wanted to capture the ambiance since this will probably be our only Christmas in this house (my husband is in the Air Force). I cut out the “MERRY” from the 12×12 paper. Then used bits and pieces from the main memory keeping kits and the Christmas bonus kit.
“Yass Girl, SLEIGH”: To watch the process video of this layout click here. This photo was taken at the Holloways Christmas Tree farm where we literally went just to take photos. We ended up just getting a fake Christmas tree. A lot fo the die cuts used in this layout are from Crate Paper which were in the Christmas bonus kit.
“Hey! You’re lookin PINE”: This title was absolutely perfect for a photo of my husband at a Christmas tree farm! I decided to cover the layout with trees to really emphasize the pun. I might have went overboard. The process video for this layout can be found here. I fussy cut the pine tree on the right from one of 6×6 papers.
“Baby We’ve Got CHEMISTREE”: Another perfect title for a photo at a Christmas tree farm. The process video for this can be found here which will be available December 12! So definitely stay tuned.
“Hangin with my GNOMIES”: And you may remember this layout from a blog post from last month. We didn’t buy this gnome but we did end up buying smaller gnomes so we have a gnome family throughout our house for decorations. Our holiday cards even had a pun: “Gnome for the Holidays”.
Other holiday puns you can try out for a title:
- Oh DEER!
- Brace Your ELF
- Wait, there’s MYRHH
- FLEECE Navidad
- Thats a WRAP
- Happy HOWLIDAYS!
- GNOME Sweet Home
- Santa PAWS
- YULE be Glad
If you can think of more holiday puns to share, feel free to comment down below and don’t forget to share what you create over at the Memory Keeping with Cocoa Daisy Facebook group.
Until next time,
Ariana
