Have you been loving all the pieces of wood veneers in your kits recently?
I just love how you can adapt them to fit with any project. There are so many possibilities.
As you are all now enjoying your Janaury ‘Blueprint’ Kits, I thought it would be fun today to share some of our ways with you how we used them on Januray kit projects. There were some great little wooden pieces in the main kit and also the ‘day in the life kit’. Let’s see how they were used.
I made a LO using quite a few pieces.
I have to confess that I wasn’t going to scrap this photo. It was taken on Christmas Day when my family were visiting. The kids were fooling around with fake moustaches and I snapped this one of my youngest with my little brother. My brother is almost 13 years younger than myself and my kids always have seen him as one of the kids rather than one of the adults. I love watching them mess around.
I wanted to highlight ‘the two of them’ in my title. I had some Pink Paislee wooden letters from an older kit which I used with the small wood veneers from this kit. I coloured them all in the same way.
I started by rubbing them with a Yellow Prima Chalk Ink .I then dabbed the tops and sides with an Orange Chalk Ink. They weren’t quite coloured enough though and still didn’t stand out as much as I would have liked. So I used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze on each piece. I purposely let this run and went over the edges of the wood. I love the sheen you get when using these.
If you don’t have the glimmer glazes you can also use mists. Just screw the top off and dip a thin paint brush inside. It will work in the same way.
I made a LO last week using the wooden frames that come with this months ‘Color Swatch kit’. This is a little set of 3 and they are so cute. I coloured them with some Pro Marker Pens and they came out so bright.
Alissa also has some ideas to share with us today how she used her wood veneers from her January Kit. She embossed some of the pieces with the Zing gold metallic embossing powder.
She says it’s ”super simple”. I think that gold really loks great. She also says ” Just make sure you have the wood anchored when using the heat gun”.
Another one of Alissa favourite ways with the wood veneer is to ink them with the Prima Chalk Inks. Teal Damask was used here. The Chalk Inks really do cover well.
And if all else fails….just plain ol’ naked can be good too.

And Anna.
Whatever you do with them the wood veneers are always a fun product to play with and add to your LO’s.
Happy Scrapping!!
