Tips and Tricks | Cut Files

Hello Daisies.  I want to show you how to customize/alter the free cut files we receive with your subscription.

You can click here to see the video of how I was able to just get the crane from the card cut file and then design my background.  This is the end result ready to cut on my patterned paper.

Once I cut the background from the pattern paper, I put the outline of the cut file back in place, but as you will see in the video, save all of those inside pieces, so you can trace onto patterned paper and then slip and adhere inside the crane.  This look and technique is very trendy, but I also wanted it to be my style and unique to the layout.

It was a tedious project, and one that I did in stages and not at one time.  After all of the color from the patterned paper was added and adhered, I felt like it needed more emphasis.  I knew stitching would be the best, but I knew it would not be easy.  Set your sewing machine on the slowest speed it will go, and carefully go around.  You can see imperfections (which are okay for me).  I got the look I wanted.

So now I can start adding my photo and layers.  The cranes were a perfect match to celebrating our adoption day photo.

Hope you use the free cut files with your subscription and see that you can use them to fit the look you want for your project.
