Hello Lovely Daisies!!
I hope you all enjoyed the reveal last night and feel excited about your ‘Sage & Mint’ Kits.
I wanted to share a LO with you today that I made using a piece of the Webster’s Pages ‘Happy Vellum’ which comes in the ‘paper addon’.
I quite like fancy vellums, but I have to say, they don’t send me giddy with excitement. This particular piece though did catch my eye. They look so pretty, fancy vellums, but sometimes you can feel a little stumped as to what to do with them once you’ve finished that initial ‘stroking’ period. Once you lay them on to papers they can look a little flat and suddenly appear slightly dull.
See what I mean?
I guess if you like the more muted tones then that’s fine. I personally love BRIGHT. I want my colours to stand up and let you know that they are there. In order to do that on this LO, I decided to cut this piece of vellum and I jiggled the 4 rectangles around so that they were in the order that I wanted and then I stuck them down on a piece of white 12×12.
Doesn’t that make a difference?
A couple of little tips. Stick the vellum down before trimming the cardstock. It makes life so much easier and secondly, don’t use any decent cardstock for this. I have a few pieces of quite thin white 12×12. Not good enough to actually make a LO on but are perfect for this. I also have a few that I’ve marked by mistake (those mists get everywhere!!) again, perfect for a project like this.
I’ve used a little pva glue on the very edges of the vellum, then trimmed the 12×12 white card and stuck on to my patterned paper. I’m so much happier with how this vellum looks now it’s on white. The colours are so pretty.
Time for the photos. I print my own and add them to the LO.
I really love the chevron vellum too so decided to apply the same technique using the strips as page accents. Another tip here. Stick the vellum on the white card first and then trip. It’s so much easier.
I then trimmed and cut the strips and stuck them down.
I threw the ends away and then had an idea for them, so got them back out of the bin to use. Good job it’s only a paper bin in my studio!! Nothing worse than rummaging through old damp teabags!!
The page is now ready to add all the extra bits to.
I used a combo of the Webster’s Pages ‘Happy Sticker’ Sheet which is an addon on it’s own here.
The Simple Stories ‘I Am’ Enamel Dots.
A few pieces from Elle’s Studio ‘Cienna’, which are in the DITL kit.
I really like being able to choose and buy my addons separately. I think this way works much better for me.
I hope you like my bright and colourful LO today. It was fun sharing the process with you xx
I love this idea of adhering the vellum to the cardstock first to get a brighter color. Great tip!
Great tips! Love how the vellum now pops (and also loving your multi-photo layout). Thank you!
