Hello, it’s Lisa with you here today.
I really enjoy these ‘Product Focus’ posts. When I open my kit my eyes usually zoom in on something particular. This month is was the Shimelle Starshine Chipboard Stickers in the main kit. The colours, the fun elements and the fact that there seemed to be so many layers and so many stickers in the one pack. My head was working over time thinking of ideas that I could use these on. So that’s how I came to decide on what product I would focus on and this was also my starting point for the first LO that I made with my May kit this month.
This was my starting point.
When I’m scrapbooking with a kit, my products tend to take control of the photos that I choose. In this case, the pops of red were really catching my eye. I had to go and print off our recent photos taken in Times Square at the red steps.
I wanted to show off the chipboard stickers on my page, so using the Shimelle papers in the paper addon, which I just LOVE, I decided to create a bit of a grid effect. I laid things out and moved them around and added more bits and pieces. The chipboard frame fitted my photo so perfectly and really contrasts well with the red steps behind. (can you spot our kids at the top of the steps??)
I started sticking the elements down once I was happy. Don’t forget, if the embellishments don’t quite work for your LO, things can be adapted. I trimmed this piece of chipboard here.
Everything is coming nicely together now. I’ve got the chipboard pieces, the matching papers and now I have the coordinating Shimelle Word Stickers from the DITL kit too. There’s words, strips and alphas. Such a handy little set to have and so perfect for my LO here. This gave me an idea for my title.
I decided to paint a little red behind my title to really tie in all the red features and also help my title to stand out.
I also added a little more red paint in a couple of places and dripped some paint and inks and I was finished.
This page was so much fun to create. I loved having all the matching pieces from the Shimelle Starshine collection. It just cane together so effortlessly.
Now my LO really does shine.
This is a real standout of a layout! Love the red paint, photos, little layered blocks yet enough white space. Just lovely and thank you for your process.
