Hello, Emily here today with the sketch challenge for the month. We used a sketch based on Alissa’s awesome page from her Blueprint gallery (you can still order the Blueprint kit). We had lots of Design Team members play along this month, using the February kit, Color Swatch, so you’ll get plenty of inspiration for your own creating.
Here’s the sketch:
I tried and tried and tried to make it work this way, but you’ll see I ultimately flipped it upside down and bam, I was happy with it!
Mandie kept with the two strong center photos, zooming into that part of the design. Instead of the vertical title, she went with more of a horizontal one that snuggles around the photos, creating the same happy energy you feel in her pictures.
Newest team member Patricia joined with three photos instead of the two in the sketch, she also moved away from the vertical title, but stayed true to scattering of embellishments.
Mandy Kay turned the sketch orientation 90ΒΊ so she had the right home for a portrait image of her oldest. She used lots of layers, like Alissa’s original sketch, and used a scattering of the awesome sequins from the Paint Chip add on.
Lisa went with one photo instead of the two, but kept the location similar and stayed true to the layers of papers under the photo. She also made her smattering of embellishments a bit more of a feature on the page. Her title went horizontal instead and does a nice job at drawing attention to the photo.
And Alissa finishes it off with a re-interpretation of her own layout. She also zoomed in and played with title placement, splitting it evenly above and below the images. I love that she and I used the same paper as a background!
Join the team and play along with our sketch challenge. You have two weeks to create, be sure to finish by the 17th of February and upload your project using the February sketch to the gallery. Link it up in the comments section of this post or the Message Board thread. A $10 Daisy Boutique winner will be chosen from the entries, I’ll announce the winner on the 20th . Good luck and happy scrapping!
Come on February kit shipping! I have some lifting to do here! tee hee
