Strips and Stripes! Oh My! – March 2017 Sketch Challenge – Video Link

Hi Daisies! Suzanna here today to share with you this month’s sketch challenge. Have you noticed lately that there has been a plethora of layouts out there with stripes? Strips? I love that you can use of scraps for this kind of layout or cut into that fresh 12×12 page, whichever heart desires!

You ready to see what your sketch challenge is this month?

Well, here it is;

Stripes galore! Fat ones, skinny ones, tall ones, long ones! Dark stripes, light stripes, punched stripes. You can have all kinds of fun with this one!

Here’s my take on the sketch;

I stuck to the sketch other than I used two pictures in place of the one and I turned three of the stripes into “banners” or pennants, depending upon what you call them. I, like Alissa and Wendy” kept the selvage strip at the bottom of the paper – great minds think alike – and so needed the weight of some darker colored stripes to balance that heavier color at the bottom. You can see the process video of how that layout came together here;

Moon used the fantastic blue and cream striped background as her foundation for the stripes and used horizontal elements and clouds in place of the individual stripes. All those bits of Pretty Little Studio vellum tape are replacements for the stripes on a smaller small! Way to go on catching that fish Moon!

This card from Suz is spot on on a smaller scale! She too uses the vellum tape as her stripes. I think I even spy one of the print and cut files (the chevron) as a stripe! And the header/footer stickers from the March kits are just perfect balance on for her “Toadily” cut toads!

Marie’s layout is a more literal interpretation of the sketch with many, many more stripes and lots of fun layers. Marie always manages to get so much on her layouts! I think most of us used the vellum tape in some way, shape or horizontal form as we went about our designing with this sketch in mind as Marie too, used it!

Lisa used stripes at the top of her layout but interrupted the bulk of the stripes as a block to house her picture and a card from the DITL kit. Lots of fussy cutting, stamping and mixed media going on in Lisa’s layout!

You have until March 21st to submit your takes on this stripey sketch! No need to use Cocoa Daisy kits but think how fast your layout would come together if you did?! Stripping it down to no time! Please post your projects in the Cocoa Daisy Challenges Facebook group under the March Sketch Challenge album or on the forum or gallery. Even here in the comments is good! Or Instagram using the hashtag #March2017CDSketchChallenge

I can’t wait to see you get stripey with it!
