Can you believe it’s almost September? This summer has gone by so fast. Makes me a little sad actually. One of the things that is good about the cooler weather though is that I feel less inclined to be outside swimming, biking, hiking, etc. Inside time usually means scrapping time! The gallery is jammed packed with gorgeous projects again this month. I have noticed a nice up tick in comments being left as well, which is great. It feels good to have people notice your work doesn’t it? That’s what Daisy Devotion is really about, just giving some extra attention to the fantastic projects in the gallery. This month it is also my pleasure to recognize someone who has been with us at Cocoa Daisy for many years. Marie Johansson or Mison. Here is a little bit about Marie.
“My name is Marie Johansson and I live in the north of Sweden with my partner and our two children (Max, 10 and Alice, 6 years old). Many of you know me under my username Mison, a name my father used to call me when I was a child. I work as an Intensive Care Nurse with Cardiology as my specialty (hence my other nickname “the Nutty Nurse”). I found my way to Cocoa Daisy via Anna Björklund in 2009, and have been hanging around here ever since.
My main interest is Scrapbooking. Since my early teens I´ve been creating cards (drawing, painting etc.). In 2004 when my son was born I found a lot of beautiful colored papers and embellishments in a craft shop, bought some and that was the beginning of it all… Now I spend as much time as possible at the craft table, and it has developed to be my biggest hobby, as well as a big part of my life. For me scrapbooking is a way of contemplation. As I have a job that can be rather stressful, and two intensive children, scrapbooking gives me time to relax and run away from the “real world” for a while. It gives me a chance to use my creative nerve, and focus on my needs for a while.
My “style” is colourful and playful. I often use a lot of papers and embellishments. I try to have the photo in focus, and to reflect the feeling of the photo in the layout. I love playing around with different mediums like paint and gesso, and I believe every layout needs a bit of black colored stamping on it. Over the years I think my way of creating has developed from “pure” scrapbooking to become more Mixed Media Scrapbooking. If I would call my style something – well maybe Playful Punk Chic? (if i do a romantic layout, I can´t help giving it a playful twist…).
You are all welcome to visit my blog or follow my fed on Instagram (as @misonmarie).”
I admire Marie so much in the work she does and her creativity. She is so free in her work and is never afraid to try something new and different as far as products or techniques. Here are some of my favorite layouts in her CD gallery.
So glad to have Marie here as part of our community!
Here are some other layouts that caught my eye this month. Please stop by the gallery and grab some inspiration and share some love.
First up is this layout by rarou47. She used the “Here I am” kit for this one. I love the arrows. Do you see how she did some journaling in one of the cutouts?
This one by tpgirl is so fun. I love the drips and the perspective of the photo.
Look how Terry used a grid with her photo. The photo really pops with that background paper and the red letters for the title.
Last but not least I really like this one by Ronda. The patterns and layering are perfect! I also like the quirky photo.
Thanks to everyone loading to the gallery! See you next month.
Always something wonderful to look at in Marie’s gallery! I love all the gallery picks too!
