Hello awesome daisies!!

Today I want to share with you a project I’ve been thinking about for a while but didn’t have either time or inspiration to make, but here it is! A planner bouffet (or organizer) to store all (or almost) your planner and scrapbooking supplies you want to have handy, send a friend happy mail, or even to carry on your holidays. Who knows what you can need by the sea or sitting after a nice and fun pool day?

For this project we need to consider that we need to decorate the box, that will be the first step and then we need to set the spaces for the supplies we are going to put into our buffet, make a pocket and give it the last touches, so let´s divide the process into 5 parts:

PART 1: MATERIALS

The materials we are going to use are pretty easy to find:

• A box. I used the Daisy Day Planner kit box because it’s big enough but not huge, so easy to carry with me.
• A piece of hard cardboard. A cereal box will do just fine.
• Silk (tissue) paper. I used Cocoa Daisy´s because I just love polka dots.
• Plastic or paper bag.
• Liquid silicone. You can use any glue you know that will last and it finish is hard.
• White glue. I used a mixture of half water and half glue.
• A brush, to apply the glue.
• A cutter, to cut cardboard.
• A ruler, to measure cardboard.
• Scissors, to cut paper.
• 2 sheet of copy paper (optional).

PART 2: DECORATE THE INSIDE

Prepare your glue, (as you read before, I mixed half glue half water into a cristal pot, but you could just apply glue directly), grab a brush and start brushing your box. I started on the inside, but it will be ok starting on the outside. Make sure you apply glue on every surface you are going to set your paper on.

Apply your silk (tissue) paper on the glued surface, be careful with the wrinkles, you can use a cloth to help yourself, this part is tricky because if you press too hard the paper will tear.

Cut the paper you don´t need.

Now all the interior is glued, all I need to do is cut the paper excess.

This is optional but I prefer to do it because I think it secures the paper. I applied my glue mixture on the paper I had just applied on the box, it´s like Mod Podge.

It´s time to decorate the sides of the box. Measure your box and cut your paper to the correct size.

Now glue them. Remember to be careful when you place the paper onto the box, this paper is very delicate.

Let´s let it dry for now…

PART 3: SET OUR GOODIES SPACES.

This step may be different for each one of us because we all have our own necessities. First you have to think what supplies you want to have in your organizer, I thought that it would be useful to have room for washi, clips, PL cards, and die cuts. Since I have many die cuts, I left more room for them.

We are now going to cut cardboard pieces to make the little rooms for our box, measure the inner parts of your box, in this picture I´m showing you that I measured the width of my box because I was going to make a big separation. You also need to bear in mind that we will have to cut our cardboard pieces shorter than the bottom of the box because we will add a big pocket on the top of the box. My measure for this was 1 5/8 inch or 4.3cm and the measure of the bottom of the box is about 2 inches.

In the next pictures you are going to see the pieces I cut to set all the “little rooms”

I took one of CD cards to make the measurements as well as a new (so that it was big) roll of washi.

These are all the pieces I cut and their measurements. If you are using a CD´s box for your project these will be useful, if not, you´ll have to make your own measurements.

It is time to decorate our cardboard pieces the same way we did with the inner part of our box.

Glue one side, put it onto the silk (tissue) paper, apply more glue with your brush and “wrap it”.

Then cut the paper excess. Do the same with all your pieces, this won’t take you too long.

Apply more glue onto all the surfaces to prevent the paper from ripping when using it. Leave it all dry for one hour approximately.

PART 2B: DECORATE THE OUTSIDE

For the outside I decided to use the big polka dot paper, since the box has a sticker with the address, I thought that I’d like cover it, so I grabbed a sheet of copy paper, cut to box size, applied glue to it and stuck my polka dot paper to it, then glued it to the box. Using a sheet of paper is optional, but I thought the result would be nicer and neater.

What about edges? Very easy, just apply some glue and press the paper with your fingers onto it. Whenever you’re finished, apply more glue with your brush to all surfaces.

Since I liked the result when using a sheet of copy paper, I used the same technique to reinforce the bottom of the bouffet, it won’t increase the height, so no worries about the measurements of the cardstock pieces. Apply glue with your brush again, this part will receive some friction, so let’s secure our project.

PART 3B: GLUE CARDSTOCK PIECES FOR OUR GOODIES SPACES

Grab your cards, washi or anything you want to use as a template to glue all the cardstock pieces in place. I used liquid silicone for this step because I found that it’s a good glue for this kind of structures and it dries pretty fast, you could also use white glue.

PART 4: THE POCKET

For the top pocket I’m going to be using one of CD’s plastic bag that is usually included in the kits because I want to see what’s inside it, but you could use a paper bag instead. Cut it to fit in your box top and apply glue to the borders, this way you’ll have not only the room of the bag but also some extra on the back side of the bag, so you get 2 pockets for one, nice deal huh?

I cut a semicircle on the top of the bag to make it easier when picking things from inside it, I wasn’t able to make it with the punch, so I did it with the scissors.

PART 5: FINAL TOUCHES

For the front part I did the same technique as for the outside and the bottom using a sheet of copy paper, glue and silk (tissue) paper. I first sketched the shape and then glued.

Time to place my words! I’m using this month’s alphas from Firefly Scrapboook kit, I start placing them from the end so that I can decide where I want to put them and I won’t have to unglue them if I make a mistake. My words are “PLANNER BOUFFET”  😀

We can now start filling inside our paper bouffet with everything we need for our planner, journaling, scrapbooking or anything creative!
