Hey!
My name is Brooke and I live in Central Canada with my husband and our 3 cats (Minerva, Adele, & Miss Edith).
I’m super into scrapbooking, snail mail, making cards, dabbling in mixed media, decorating my planner, home decor, and pocket pages. For me, scrapbooking is my primary creative outlet and let’s be honest here…my addiction. My messy, glittery addiction.
When I’m not scrapbooking you can find me Netflix binging, eating snacks, tending to my large (according to my husband) collection of houseplants, drinking wine in my bathtub, and making my cats dance to the BeeGees.
- When is your most creative time?
Sunny afternoon, cup of tea, after a Pinterest binge session. That’s when my creativity starts really flowing!
- How do you unwind?
Netflix binging, bubble baths, and wine.
- If you were in a Rock N’ Roll band, what would your job be?
I would never be allowed in a band! I have no rhythm so I bet they’d just make me carry their bags or pretend to play a tambourine or something.
- What is your guilty pleasure?
Haagen Daaz chocolate peanut butter ice cream & Monster Jam (people are always surprised that I enjoy watching it!)
- If your life was a movie, what actress would play you?
Melissa McCarthy? I honestly have no clue!
- What’s your favorite accessory?
Does cat hair count?
- If your life were a novel, what would the title be?
“23 Going on 83: The Elderly Woman Stuck in A Millennial’s Body”
- What was your first job and how did you get it?
My first job was at my local library while I was in high school. I still have a weakness for books (my husband and I have a growing library of our own), and I LOVE to read.
- Share three of your bucket list items with us.
– Attend an Olympic Opening Ceremony
– Eat macarons in Paris (and as much cheese as physically possible!)
– Visit the ABBA museum in Stockholm with my mom
- What is “dressed up” for you?
Makeup and not having my hair up in a bun for once.

When I started thinking about my “About Me” project, I had an idea for a pie chart-type design bouncing around in my head. You know that feeling when you have a vision in your mind, but you just can’t seem to figure out how exactly to make it happen? Well, that was me. I had originally planned on just cutting the wedges out freehand, but when that plan failed dismally I decided to use my Silhouette Cameo instead.
I knew when I was designing the pie chart that there was no way I was going to cut each wedge individually (patience is not my virtue!).
The solution:
I cut them all at once! I trimmed paper scraps from the November Fair Isle kits and laid them out according to the cutting order. Since I was mixing different weights of paper (i.e. textured cardstock and patterned papers), I set my cut settings a little bit deeper than I normally would to ensure that everything cut all the way through. It worked beautifully and helped my layout come together pretty quickly!
I’ve been loving how kraft cardstock complements the November kits! Christmas colours are a bit of a challenge for me, so I’ve been using cardstock and white space to “neutralize” them this month. That’s why I love a subscription kit so much – it makes me think outside the box and I’m loving the results!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today and getting to know us (the Memory Keeping Team) a little bit better!
I’m beyond excited to be on the Cocoa Daisy Memory Keeping Team this term, and I’m thrilled to work on the kits with you guys! I LOVE seeing your creativity!
