Hello everyone!
Today I was going to talk about the alphabet soup trend and show you my own version, but I didn’t like the way my design came together. Does that happen to you sometimes too? I’ll keep working on it but in the meantime I am sharing a stash and bucket list busting project in honor of Christine’s July stash busting challenge. It’s a recipe album utilizing the Farmers Market Travelers Notebook!
This project has been on my bucket list for a very long time. It got deprioritized for lots of reasons including no vision around how I would approach the album. After seeing peeks of the Farmer’s Market kits, I finally figured out that I wanted my recipes and several important “photoless” memories in this album. In fact, I am going to embrace having many layouts without photos and concentrate on creating an album that overflows with recipes. And a TN album is the perfect size for my carry-on bag or car to take on trips so that I can recreate my favorite recipes when I am visiting family and friends.
Here is the simple opening page of my album with a bit of stitching.
My album will hold lots of healthy recipes I love along with the unhealthy ones too. I’m an equal opportunity foodie despite the fact I eat healthy most of the time. The first recipe is a nod to my secret love affair with chickpeas aka garbanzo beans and one of my favorite roasted flavors.
Because I want this album to be brimming with lots of recipes and visually appealing, I decided to add interest and texture with hand stitching, stamps, flat cut files, die cuts, and patterned paper. My roasted chickpea recipe is a simple design that includes a hand stitched spiral and doesn’t require a lot of height space in the album.
I created a template on cardstock for the spiral design and then I positioned it on my TN page with washi tape and punched it out and stitched. I looked through my Cocoa Daisy stash and found the grey alpha puffy stickers from a past kit for my title. I love the simple design and the die cut accents from the Farmers Market memory keeping kits. My design also has room for a photo if I decided to take one and add it later. One idea would be to place a small circle photo in the large open space in the middle of my spiral title overlapping a bit of the stitching.
I also created a dedication page to my grandmother which includes items from my stash.
I hope you will follow along with me on my recipe album journey via my Instagram account and perhaps find a new recipe to add to your collection!
XO,
~Robin
