Hello Cocoa Daisy Fans,

Welcome to another TN Tuesday! Today on the blog, Kylie, Jil and I are showing you how we incorporated the gingham and plaid elements from the Farmer’s Market kits in our designs. The first design I want to share with you is a signature collage from Jil.

“Here I document the fun of trying new things. Gingerbread Almond Butter sounded great to me because I love ginger and pumpkin-pie spice. Almond butter, it turns out, is amazing with these spices added! I used the gingham washi from the kit, along with the word washi, and I created a little diamond pattern “gingham” with a stamp. The kit ribbon is also a kind of check, so I cut and sewed that to my page along with some brown seam binding. I’m using papers from earlier kits because I wanted a pop of turquoise.”

“The stamp that says ‘live life with a little spice’ was perfect for my page. Stamped it in a gingerbread color. So much fun to celebrate these flavors!”

Jil pulls many elements together so beautifully in her signature collage designs and I always enjoy seeing them as well as hearing the why behind her creative choices. 

Next up, we have Kylie’s cook book design and its lovely! 

“This month I converted my TN into rings. I wanted my TN to take on the appearance of an old Country Farmhouse cook book. I’ve loved layering lots of different ginghams, stripes and checkered patterns together in some of my page layouts. For this spread I have combined elements and supplies from nearly all of the different August kits.” 

Kylie’s ring bound recipe album is super fun and I love that she shared a recipe with us too. I’m definitely adding her Chicken Risotto recipe in my own recipe book because my husband will love it! 

And, speaking of recipes….

My design holds two crock pot chicken recipes that I love and have made many times. I created a tab from the red plaid paper so that I could use it to pull out the two recipes which are glued together back to back.  

I wanted to use plaid and gingham elements from the Farmer’s Market kits to bring a retro feel to my design. Of course, I added a tiny bit of stitching to the graphics in my layout to keep the consistency in my album.

And a little confession, this is not the design I started with for today’s post but at times what we envision doesn’t actually work for us. Like movie scenes, some of our ideas end up on the “cutting room floor.” And that’s okay.
