Hi lovely people!
Rachel here, and today I’m sharing with you a little about how my planning style changes during the quieter summer holidays. When I say ‘quieter’, what I mean is that we have far fewer timed appointments and activities – with my two girls at home (ages 7 and 10), it’s anything but quiet! (And if it is – it’s very suspicious….)
Normally, I use my Erin Condren Hourly LifePlanner (TM) to map out my week. I need to be able to see at a glance what’s happening and where my free time is. As you can see, the latter half of this week (using the July Planner Sticker Kit) was rather quiet and full of blank space. Sometimes I’ll fill it in with a quote or a photo – but as I use my B6 Dori for memory keeping, it feels redundant to do it in my planner too.
Not only my weekly view, but also my monthly view has far less to include as well. So, for August, my Erin Condren is being rather neglected, and I’m focusing on putting everything in my personal rings.
I’m using a simple colour code to mark any appointments in the month on two pages, and then other events are marked with washi and stickers.
I’ve been experimenting with using the week on one page for an overview of the week. For the first full week of August, I really liked how this turned out. It’s simple, but I can see easily what’s happening. I stamped ‘morning’ ‘afternoon’ and ‘evening’ to roughly delineate where the times of the day fell – having been in an hourly for so long, I need my planner to have some sort of timeline to it!
I added some more decorative stickers to the next week – again, I kept my appointments with the morning on the left hand side of the day, and the evening towards the right hand side of the day.
I love how the alpha stickers turned out – they’re a great way to add a pop of contrast to the page!
However, as this week has even fewer timed appointments on it, I decided to try planning out the same week on the week on two pages. This let me get more creative with stickers – and that’s never a bad thing!
I love to layer stickers together – like these two for an appointment. I also deliberately left a large empty space to include a quote sticker from the Planner Sticker Kit.
For the weekend, I decided to keep Saturday and Sunday running horizontally, rather than following the vertical division that’s already there. Using the day stickers and appointment labels from the Classified Planner Kit, it was easy to change this over.
It’s been really fun to experiment with different layouts for my week during a quieter month. The beauty of getting the ring bound inserts from Cocoa Daisy is that there are several different options within the pack, and so even if you don’t normally use one of those, I’d encourage you to try out something different to your usual layout. I think my favourite is the week on two pages – and if I have a quieter week again sometime, I’ll certainly be using these again!
Does your planning style change depending on what’s going on, or do you stick to something tried and tested? I’d love to know so leave a comment down below!
Until next time, take care lovely people!

PS – There’s a little #simonspotting here – can you find where I added him to a page?!
