Hello Daisies,

Today, Moon, Sabrina, and I are sharing our butterfly designs and the next Cocoa Daisy paper craft challenge! Let’s start with my design. I love creating clean and simple designs. I think it’s in my DNA. ? And…I also love growing dahlias. Combine these loves with some butterflies and this is the end result.

I can’t express in words how exciting it was to capture the lovely Monarch with my Cafe au Lait dahlias. And the Book Club kits were a perfect backdrop for my photos. Happy sigh.

Next, let’s take a look at Moon’s gorgeous butterfly design.

When Moon opened the Autumn Whimsy Classified Memory Keeping Kit, she thought the butterflies and frames would look lovely together. I couldn’t agree more. Moon’s 12×12 design is stunning and her thought process around incorporating kit components into this classic size are seriously magical!

And Moon’s mixed media background is the perfect backdrop for her photos and embellishments.

Sabrina created a delightful mixed media design with the Autumn Whimsy kits.

She noted, “For my butterfly project I decided to go in a completely different direction with my Cocoa Daisy products. I decided to use the Vicky Boutin butterflies to make a mixed media type of travelers notebook spread.

I got out my paints to splatter on the background paper. I love how the paints add an extra layer of color and movement to the page. I also layered in some of the Vicki Boutin diecut pack in three different sections and also behind the quote image.

I had the best time making this layout. Getting messy, adding lots of layers and documenting a quote I love.”

We see butterflies in paper crafting projects year-round. This is most likely due to the symbolism of butterflies around the world. Butterflies are associated with endurance, change, hope, love, and transformation. In many cultures the butterfly represents a connection to nature, joy, and the soul. The butterfly shows us that regardless of where we start in life, we will become something more beautiful than anything we might have imagined as children.

Here’s the challenge…create a paper craft design with butterflies in your planner, scrapbook album, journal, etc.
