Circle and Hexagon Love

Hello! Melanie here today with my very first blog post on the Cocoa Daisy blog, what a thrill to be here guest designer! I’m joined by Candy and Jil to share our takes on incorporating circles and hexagons on our crafty projects! Both are such fun elements and a true staple to paper crafting, from creating layers to cutting pictures in a circular shapes, the options are endless!

Jil’s page is full of whimsy and amazing details!! I love how she incorporated both design elements on her page! Have a look!

Here’s what Jil had to say about her project: I made this 9X12 page to add to my Project Life album. It tells the story of a bracelet my boyfriend made for me and has repaired a few times over the years. I drew on the Autumn Whimsy kit to tell my story, stamping “bracelet” with the alpha stamps, layering the lovely papers under my photo, typing my journaling on a pocket card, and embellishing with puffy stickers, die cuts, and hexagons punched from the kit papers.

Candy created a lovely spread, with beautiful clusters of embellishments and diecuts!! Looks at those details!

Here’s what Candy had to share about her project: For this layout, I used the very pretty vellum with gold foliage which I layered on top of some white paper to make the colors pop a little bit more. Next, I put down this photo, then added the circle elements that I took from the Pocket and TN kits. Then I added a few more elements— the hexie, label, and mushroom. This minimalist page is really my style and I love how it came together

For my project I opted to create a TN spread with a focus on circles! The kits featured the most amazing diecuts, many of which were circles, I was instantly inspired to add multiple circles as a focal point. I used various sizes to create a vertical design, which highlights the theme of my spread.

I also paired some circles on the opposite page to continue the circle theme of the TN spread. This ensures that my design is cohesive and well balanced!

I hope you are inspired to add these design elements to your next project!
