Happy New Year’s Eve!
It’s hard to believe we are saying farewell to 2019 and reaching the end of a decade, yet here we are! Today we are going to take a trip down memory lane with design team member Audrey Medd as she walks us through her decade of milestones layout. Let’s take a peek!
“Hello friends, Happy New Year! I just realized a few months ago that this new year signals the end of a decade! How wild is that? I thought, what better way to say goodbye to 2019 then do a spread about my four top milestones this decade. I drew inspiration from heirloom quilts and decided to do a quilted 12×12 page.”
“First, I divided the page into 9 4×4 sections. I cut 9 4×4 squares to use as my “quilts.” Then I found 4 milestone photos: My wedding, my 40th birthday, a picture of my niece and nephew and a picture of my fur babies. I sized each of the photos to 2×2 and changed them to black and white. Next, for the quilt squares with the photos, I cut up two different patterns of paper from the Memory Keeping Pocket Kit and the Traveler’s Notebook Kit into 1×1 squares.”
“As a bonus, since the paper is double sided, I was able to use both sides. I alternated the patterns of the 1×1 squares and glued them down on the 4×4 square.”
“When I was done I glued my 2×2 black and white photo in the middle. I repeated this for each of the 4 squares that had a picture. On the two quilt squares that have a photo of me (my birthday cake smash and my wedding) I embellished the squares with stickers and die cuts from the kits.”
“I used the free subscriber printable, sized to 2×1 and typed my journalling in the middle. I printed it on photo paper and glued to a 4×4 solid piece of pattern paper, then embellished with the washi sentiments that I felt worked well with the photo. I added a sticker washi from the Memory Keeping sticker kit as well. For the middle 4×4 squares, I cut down two 3×4 journal cards with sentiments that fit my stories and added washi and stickers to finish the squares.”
“Next, I sized the pink ledger paper to 4×4 and added the title “This Decade” in purple, then added a circle sticker with the dates and a small heart sticker for balance. Finally, I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edge of all of the squares and adhered them down to a 12×12 piece of white paper.”
