A New Year with Project Life

Hello and Happy 2020!

It’s time to reset and refresh our gratitude for the gift of time with the people we love. One of our favorite ways to do that is through the lens of memory keeping. And project life is one of the best ways to look back through the years, months or the past week for the simple gratitudes of our extraordinary every day life. Today we are sharing designs by Odessa, Korrie-ann and myself. Let’s take a peek at what Odessa has for us today.

“I opened the Noted kits and all those cool toned purples just jumped out at me! When I started working on this page I knew there had to be some purple so I started with the journal card right in the middle and worked out from there.”

”This page in my family year book has a lot of colour going on so I kept the embellishments simple with some fun die cuts, chipboard and regular stickers.”

”In the bottom right corner I attached one of the cute camera die cuts to a patterned journal card and embellished a bit with those cute purple alpha stickers! I also added a few bottom borders on this page using die cuts for a simple embellishment.”

Walking through a gorgeous, fun, and colorful design by Odessa is one of the best ways to start the new year!

Next, we are sharing Korrie-ann’s 6×8 sized design. Korrie-ann notes, “as we say goodbye to 2019 and welcome in 2020, the Noted kits are perfect to begin documenting our year. My chosen word of the year is Capture and I would like to capture every moment.”

“Using the pocket memory kit I have created my first page in 6 by 8, using black and white paper to which I added colour with my watercolours. Next, I layered my photograph with pink and yellow papers plus one of the 3 by 4 pocket cards.”

”Then I have added a few of the diecuts and enamel dots in the water-coloured area and finished the page off with the 2020 title using thickers from my stash. In the pockets on the right I used pocket cards from the kit, adding my word Capture, one of the clear stickers from the memory keeping sticker kit and the rub ons to add a little more detail to the cards.”

Korrie-ann created a sweet opening design for 2020 with a wonderful reminder to capture your memories!

The final design we are sharing today is a 2020 opening layout for my 52 Favorites project. This year I am skipping traditional PL for mini albums. 52 Favorites will serve as our family’s everyday story documentation for 2020. I went with something very different for me this year to begin my album. Yep, that’s right, instead of my favorite blue, I went all out with yellow and pink! One of the things I adore about Cocoa Daisy kits is the rich mix of colors, especially those that challenge my comfort zones. In fact, my all time favorite color palette to date is the Memphis Season kit palette, but Noted is definitely a close second!

I started with a pocket card and planner dashboard as the foundation for my design. The dashboard is an A5 size cut down to fit my TN pocket page. Next I chose die cuts and a chipboard piece to enhance my dashboard and pocket card. The sparkly enamel dots were chosen to accent the bright happy colors of the design.

To keep my design a fun and whimsical reminder to stay focused on the positive, I chose to fussy cut the paper air planes from the exclusive memory keeping kit papers. Choosing the airplanes that matched my pink and yellow theme, I arranged them in a playful design across my layout.

I finished off with a family photo, a photo of our pups, and a quote. I seriously love how the design in my head translated and am excited to tell my first weekly story in my 2020 52 Favorites album. You can find lots of 52 Favorites ideas and designs by searching or following the hashtag #52favorites on Instagram.

I hope you enjoyed our first project life post of the year. We hope you will fill 2020 with a ton of stories and photographs about your amazing extraordinary everyday life. On behalf of Christine, Emily and Mary Kay, our wonderful planner and memory keeping design teams and the entire Cocoa Daisy staff, we wish you a bright, happy, and healthy Happy New Year!
