Hello to June’s Guest Designer, Jennie McGarvey!

I had the chance to visit with the lovely Jennie McGarvey earlier this year and was pleased when she happily agreed to be a guest designer for Cocoa Daisy. I’ve admired Jennie’s clean and graphic style for a long time, especially her fun handwriting, so I knew she’d do a great job with the kits. When I saw the kit for her month, knowing that she had three boys, I knew it would be a fabulous kit for her to show off. There’s a lot of pink in Boho Gardens, but Jennie shows you how to use it, even with the boycentric projects. I love that! Be sure to stop by Jennie’s Boho Garden gallery to see her inspiration at play.

Now, to get to know our guest designer a little better, here’s her bio and answers to our questions:

I am a stay at home mom to 3 boys that keep me very busy! They are involved in all kinds of activities (mainly sports) that keep me and the whole family on the go. I’ve been scrapbooking since I was 12 after a trip to California, but in the current style since right before my eldest son was born in 2001. In January of 2011 I decided to get involved online, add my projects to galleries and submit for publication. I’ve been fortunate to have my projects published in Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbook Trends and Cards. In addition to scrapbooking I enjoy reading and photography.
1. What is your most creative time?

MORNING, for sure. I’m most evergized and creative in the morning. As the day wears on, my mojo is gone!

2. Share your current top 5 favorite songs/music groups with us.
I’m a huge Beatles fan and always have been. There’s no no doubt they are my most favorite. I have a wide range of favorites beyond that. Mostly Top 40 stuff like Maroon 5, Pharrell, Pitbull and….Billy Joel. Yes, Billy Joel.

3. If you where in a Rock N’ Roll band, what would your job be?
I couldn’t be in a rock and roll band. I can’t stay up past 10 pm! 🙂

4. Did you ever want to change your name? If so, to what?
I don’t remember ever wanting to change my name. BUT, I was obsessed with the name Whitney as a child, so it’s possible I dreamed of changing it to that.

5. If your life was a movie, what actress would play you?
I’d like to say Anna Kendrick. She’s super cute and I love the roles she chooses. But, in reality it’d probably be more like Roseanne Barr or someone else equally less desirable.

6. What’s your favorite accessory?
I guess sunglasses. I have a pair of Ray Ban aviators I never leave home without. Jewelry is hard for me because bracelets just bug me and earrings often hurt my ears. So, necklaces are the only consistent thing I can wear. And even those have various restrictions.

7. How do you cheer yourself up?
I find a TV show and zone out for a while. I find taking my mind off of what is bugging me really helps. I also find creating a scrapbook page I love really helps do the same thing.

8. If you could have a luncheon with any three people (real of fictitious/ from any time period, dead or alive), which three people would you choose and why?
Jimmy Carter – I am inspired by his humanitarian and peaceful efforts. I truly believe he was ahead of his time and has done so much good for the world and those who live in it.
John Irving- He’s just my favorite author and was such a huge inspiration to me all through college. I’d love to pick his brain and see if he’s anything like any of his characters!
My grandma from the mid to late 1980’s- We were very close when I was a child and I miss her so much. I would love to give her a hug and just talk to her about nothing important at all.

9. What food would describe your style?
Spaghetti. Pretty straight forward, nothing too inventive. Yet, can be random or changed up a little bit, too!

10. What is “dressed up” for you?
Lately, it’s curled hair. I don’t have many occasions where dressing up is really necessary. However, I find I can curl my hair and it instantly makes any ensemble or event more interesting!

Thanks so much for joining us this month Jennie, you really knew how to show just how versatile the Boho Garden collection is!
