Hey, hey, hey Daisies! Are you ready for another sketch challenge?! With the arrival of Spring to the Northern hemisphere heralding longer days and more sunlight, I felt it only appropriate to incorporate circles into the sketch this month! Those of you who have followed by history with Cocoa Daisy will know of my loathing of all things round and circle like in the sketches. And so it will come as a BIG round surprise to you that not only is there a circle in the sketch but my stamping layout later this week also has circles! Bowl you over, right?! 😉
Two circles and a 3×4 Day In The Life card, or a third photo? Not bad, right? There are so many fun ways you can interpret this sketch! Let’s take a look at how some of the design team worked it into their creations!
Kelly took the North/South hemispheres of the sketch and used that as the prime inspiration from the sketch on her fun layout! Kelly always uses great layers with her pictures and fun embellishment clusters. “My arms are no longer long enough”! Love that part of her journaling!
Lisa kept the sunshine circle and I have to tell you, I’m surprised that, with her love of yellow, there isn’t a little yellow acrylic in there! She also kept the 3 columns but rearranged them slightly with the 3×4 DITL on the left instead of the center. By doing it as such, it enabled her to use more pictures in the center and maintain the balance of the columns as the sketch calls for.
That dog is just too adorable!! Oh my goodness! Marie did it all from the top/bottom background, to the three columns with the taller one in the center and the circle behind. She even has the large title at the bottom of the page, like the sketch! I love that house plants that make it look like that adorable puppy is sitting at home, in the living room, begging for some attention!
Lastly, my layout. I created a process video and am sharing my process with you. I struggled long and hard to use two papers for my background but just couldn’t make it work. Because I chose to use the doily as my circle (NOT from the kit, it’s from my stash) and that fantasatic 1canoe2 Hazelwood floral that I fussy cut, the circle element was bigger and changed the weight of how things sat nicely on the page. The divided page right down the middle was BLAH! Along those same lines, the title had to be smaller and shifted up for balance.
Here’s my process video;
