Hello Daisies! Martha here sharing a project I created with this month’s Viewfinder kits. These kits are just perfect for all of your vacation pictures. We recently took a road trip to visit family in Tennessee which took us through Indiana and Kentucky as well. I took so many pictures and have created scrapbook pages with some of them and used quite a few in my Project Life spreads but I knew I wanted to do something a little different with a few of them and was instantly inspired by the clips in the Scenic Route add-on to create this project.
For this project you will need: a wood embroidery hoop (I used an 8″ hoop), 1 piece of patterned paper of your choice from the kits (I used the Crate Paper pp from the Scenic Route add-on), viewfinder veneers, flair from the kits, scissors and hot glue gun.
Step 1: Open up your embroidery hoop and use the inner ring. Cut your patterned paper in a circle approx 1″ larger than the diameter of your hoop, it does not have to be perfect! Once paper is cut, glue your hoop to the paper using your hot glue gun or other adhesive.
Step 2: Cut excess paper in approx. 1″ increments all the way around the hoop.
Step 3: Fold your cuts in towards the hoop and glue them to the hoop using your glue gun. I would run approx 2-3″ of glue, fold in a few cuts and then repeat.
Step 4: Once you have glued all the way around your hoop, use your scissors to cut off any extra. Don’t skip this step as it allows your hoop to lie flat against the wall.
Once you have completed the steps above, replace the outside ring of your hoop and turn the screw at the top to ensure it is on securely. Next you will decide where you want to place your clips. I used 4 on the left side and 2 on the right but how you place them is up to you! I also flipped a couple of them to the reverse side so I could have pictures clipped in towards the center of the hoop as well as out. The clips that are flipped to the reverse side got embellished with flair from the Day Trip add-on. Once you have your clips in place use your hot glue gun to secure them. A quick tip: I printed my 2×3 pics and clipped them in the clips before attaching them to the hoop so I would have a better idea of how to position them. To finish the project I added a 4×6 picture directly to the patterned paper and then added 3 of the viewfinder veneers backed with various patterned paper from the kits. I also layered tags from the exclusive Panda Eight printable in the center of 2 of the veneers.
I hope this inspires you to think “off the page” when creating with your kits this month. If you haven’t checked out the Viewfinder collection this month, hurry as many of the items have already sold out!
