Good Morning Daisies! It’s Kelly and today I am going to be sharing my background that I made using Shimmerz watercolors. If you have never tried to make your own background, it’s not as difficult as it looks and it truly is a lot of fun. The supplies that I used are 12×12 watercolor paper (you can also add gesso to regular cardstock), watercolors, plastic packaging and water. If you don’t have watercolors, the same look can be achieved by using gelatos and/or spray mists.
I’ve included some close up shots so that you can see how pretty the watercolor dries. If you have any sequins left over from last month’s kit they also work with the colors of the kit this month. I love the way that the clear sequin takes on the watercolors underneath it. These pictures just don’t do it justice!
I ran the vellum letters through my Xyron, and then adhered them down overlapping one another and varying the heights of each letter. The overall look is a bit more whismsical, and I love the differences in color of the overlapped areas and the areas where the watercolors peek through.
I stitched through the snowflakes with gold metallic thread as well as added some underneath the title.
I hope that this has inspired you to get a little messy on your background. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I’ll get back to you. Have a wonderful day!
