Hi Daisies, it’s me, Jody, here to share a simple but fun technique with you today. Some of you might relate with me and have a love of washi tape. All colors, designs and patterns, right?! Well, I sometimes look through the papers in the Cocoa Daisy kit and think, “that would make a really cool washi tape!” So why not turn paper scraps into “tape” and make your own? It’s as easy as it sounds.
First, cut strips of paper in any length you desire. I especially like to use the strips at the bottom of many 12 x 12 patterned papers. They are a great width and work perfect for this technique. Next, get yourself a regular old roll of tape or tape dispenser. Any tape dispenser that has “teeth” for cutting the paper will do. Then take the very edge of your paper strip and line it up on the edge of the cutting edge of the tape dispenser and tear both edges. The paper strips now look just like a piece of tape!
Here is a detail shot of one of my layouts using the August Modern+Vintage kit this month. I put a piece of homemade washi tape under the title and along the edge of the card and photo too.
You will need some adhesive- both a gluestick or tape runner work well. You can make several tape strips and keep them handy for all type of paper crafting. It is a great way to use up lots of otherwise small pieces of paper that might get tossed out! Happy scrapping, everyone!
